FFLA has worked with Maribyrnong City Council in developing the design for the Yarraville Community Garden in parkland along Stony Creek. The design process included two design workshops with community members that resulted in an agreed design. The site of the garden presents a number of opportunities and challenges, including being located close to a child care facility and potential site contamination. Community consultation was an important part of the project including input from nearby residents who had parking and noise concerns. Budget limitations were addressed by providing workshop participants with some cost scenarios based around a ‘kit of parts’ and associated indicative costs.
