toomuc creek pakenham

The Toomuc Creek Reserve integrates a range of open space qualities including a wetland, habitat ponds, shared trail network, playgrounds and an impressive piece of public art.  At the centre of the wetland is an experiential sculpture, ‘Ebb/Flow’ by Louise Lavarack. FFLA worked with the project engineer and ecologist to configure the location of the wetland to maximise ecological and recreation benefits. This included the construction of breeding ponds for the growling grass frogs separate from the wetland that will be periodically filled to match the frog breeding cycles. The project includes reuse of existing site material including timbers salvaged from an old bridge incorporated in to a viewing platform and interpretive signage.
