FFLA designed and documented an upgrade to a much loved play space overlooking Port Phillip Bay, at the end of North Road Brighton. The new design continues the nautical theme with a new ship replacing the old one. The first splash pad for Bayside City Council was also installed including water play within the sand pit areas. Adding water play near the coast has been a hit with the local kids.
Another feature of the playground is a stone statue in the shape of a book which features a beautiful poem chosen by local resident and business owner, Guy Mainwaring. Guy and his family approached Bayside Council in 2014 with the idea of building a place where families can come and remember children that have died. A number of locations were considered, with the North Road playground finally selected as a beautiful and fitting place to sit and reflect, with views out to sea.
