FFLA worked with Insight Leisure Planners on the preparation of a Master Plan for Erskine River in Lorne. The plan is being prepared for the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee covering the areas of crown land they are responsible for managing. The study area includes 4 camp grounds, the former Lorne sandstone quarry, the ‘gateway’ area to Lorne, the swing bridge (and associated boat hire and cafe) and the Erskine River environs. The project includes extensive stakeholder engagement including workshops with the community, local school children, local businesses and stakeholders. The project explores the existing landscape character and site issues as well as proposing strategies to address seasonal demands (both in high and low season). The initial scope of the project was expanded to include a broader review of land uses along the Lorne foreshore.
